Denis Spotswood Died : 11 / 11 / 2001

Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Denis Spotswood GCB CBE DSO DFC (deceased) Joining the Royal Air Force in the 1930s, he flew Ansons with No.220 Sqn and Southamptons with No.201 Sqn before joining No.209 Sqn flying Singapore flying boats. With this squadron, he flew the Lerwick and Catalina during the war and then took command of No.500 Sqn in 1942, also flying the Catalina. Awarded the DFC and DSO, he then served in a variety of senior roles until retiring in 1974. He died on 11th November 2001.
