Alan Boxer
| Air Vice Marshal Sir Alan Boxer KCVO CB DSO DFC (deceased) A New Zealander, he joined the Royal Air Force in 1939 and was a pilot wih No.161 Sqn before joining No.138 Sqn, returning to 161 as Commanding Officer in 1943. He then took positions in the Air Ministry until the end of the war. Remaining with the RAF, he was seconded to the United States Air Force and flew the Superfortress bombers in Korea before returning to command No.7 Sqn in 1956 then became Station Commander at RAF Wittering in 1958 - at this time the home of Britain's V-Bombers. He took on more senior staff roles before retiring in 1970. He died on 26th April 1998. |
