Returning to the UK Mike was a reserve for D-Day but took a glider into Arnhem on the first lift. Returning by boat across the river after a week's hard fighting in the Oosterbeek perimeter, he was posted to India initially flying Waco gliders before becoming a second pilot on Dakotas. | |
